The washing of laundry still remains one of the oldest ways to re-cycle, so we're happy to say South West Laundry has been green and re-cycling since we opened in 1996.
South West Laundry is committed to minimising the impact we have on our environment. Working with the Carbon Trust we are implementing measures to reduce our carbon footprint.
Using the latest washing and drying technology it has enabled us to re-cycle our rinse water reducing our water consumption by 20 litres per kilo of washing. We also heat the incoming cold water from the outgoing main hot wash, this dramatically reduces boiler usage and the need for steam.
The use of a giant press to squeeze as much water from our towels before they go to our highly efficient drier systems, has enabled us to cut drying times by 50%.
All of our laundry detergents are electronically dosed into the wash ensuring the exact level required every time.
We are also working on a system to harvest rain water for use within the washing process, this should be in and working by May 2011.
We offer a free collection of all plastic packaging sent to our customers, which is then re-cycled. We would like to encourage all of our customers to have their linen delivered with no packaging, using re-useable laundry hampers or cages.
All of our modern fleet of vehicles are fitted with tracking systems, this enables us to monitor our routes and efficiency levels.
South West Laundry encourages all its staff to car share wherever possible.
